Populus Species and Genotypes

PMI has been using several different species of Populus including natural variants of P. trichocarpa from the GWAS panel, parents and progeny of the P. trichocarpa x P. deltoides pseudobackcross population, as well as wild-type and transgenic plants in the P. deltoides (WV94 genotype) and P. tremula x P. alba hybrid (717-1B4 genotype) backgrounds.

Populus Collections

PMI has been using ~1,500 individual genotypes of natural variants of P. trichocarpa from the GWAS panel that are clonally replicated in several common gardens. PMI has also been using ~350 individual genotypes from the parents and progeny of the P. trichocarpa x P. deltoides pseudobackcross population. In addition, PMI has generated ~50 transgenic and CRISPR lines in the P. deltoides (WV94 genotype) or P. tremula x P. alba hybrid (717-1B4 genotype) backgrounds. PMI has access to ~500 individual genotypes of natural variants of P. deltoides from the GWAS panel , as well as ~10 Populus representative species collected from diverse geographical locations and ecological systems.

Populus Common Gardens

PMI has been using natural variants of P. trichocarpa from the genome-wide association studies (GWAS) panel that were clonally replicated in several common gardens including Clatskanie, Boardman, and Corvallis, Oregon, and Davis, California. In addition, PMI has been leveraging the resources of ’52-124′ QTL P. trichocarpa x  P. deltoides pseudo backcross pedigree at Westport, Oregon. More recently, PMI maintains natural variants of P. deltoides in two common gardens located in Prosser, Washington, and Knoxville, Tennessee.
